LUMBER REMANUFACTURING FACILITY - Flomaton, AL
Bondurant Lumber Wholesale & Export's lumberyard is a full service reman facility conveniently located in South Alabama near several major sawmills, treaters and ports.
Bondurant Lumber Wholesale & Export began in 1999 transforming what was once the site of D.J. Bondurant Lumber Company, the family sawmill, into a thriving reman plant. Old sheds were repaired, new sheds were built, and asphalt was laid in the high traffic areas.
The facility now has about 75,000 sq. ft. of shed space and covers approximately ½ of the twenty-eight acres on which it sits. New, state of the art, equipment has been installed such as a Newman drop saw trimmer, Grecon Dimter Optimizer, Raiman Ripsaws, several moulders including a brand new high-speed Leadermac Maximac Series Moulder that can run material up to 12" wide.
Maximac Series Moulder
The Maximac series is designed for high-capacity, highly accurate operation for large and small batch production runs. The heavy-duty spindles are dynamically balanced and run on premium housing bearings, for superior workpiece finish quality.
Plant Manager Jason Bondurant preaches QUALITY & APPEARANCE every day. Simply stated it means, "putting the right pieces in the right packs" and "making every pack look pretty". This daily commitment to excellence is what separates Bondurant Lumber from your average reman yard.

HISTORY OF OUR FAMILY BUSINESS
The Bondurant family has been in the lumber business for nearly fifty years. In 1953, D. J. Bondurant established a sawmill in Flomaton, Alabama called D.J. Bondurant Lumber Company, Inc. D.J. raised his six sons in the business. The oldest son, Dewey Jr., graduated from Auburn University in 1969 and came home to help run the business. The second oldest, John, graduated from Mobile College in 1972. After a year of seminary in New Orleans, John returned to the business and took over the sales department. The third brother, Mark, stayed with the company and ended up running the logging operations. Maxie Bondurant attended Mobile college and then returned to take over the retail. This allowed John more time to focus on wholesaling. The fifth brother, Farris, returned after attending Faulkner to help Mark with the logging operations and take over some of the timber cruising responsibilities from his father. The sixth brother, Dee, attended Auburn University and came back to help with the retail operations.

In 1988, the Bondurant's opened their first lumber/hardware home center in Brewton, Alabama. Over the next ten years they added stores in Century, FL, Pace, FL, and Atmore, AL. By the early nineties, Dewey Jr. was having to spend much of his time with the stores and that made John have to devote more of his time to managing the sawmill in addition to selling lumber.
In October of 1997, the Bondurant family decided to close the sawmill. The hardware stores changed their name to Bondurant Lumber & Hardware and continue to be managed by Dewey Jr. John took the wholesale division and created Bondurant Lumber Wholesale & Export. The next brother, Mark, works in trucking for Bondurant Lumber Wholesale & Export. Maxie left to start an industrial supply company, Farris decided to sell insurance, and Dee went into full time music ministry.

On March 2, 1998, Bondurant Lumber Wholesale & Export started doing business under the direction of John Bondurant. In June, John's son Dietrich graduated from Auburn University with a business degree and came to work with his dad. Teresa, John's wife, put her accounting background to use by serving as the business's accountant. The company operated as an office wholesale for a year until the old family mill site was turned into a remanufacturing facility on March 8, 1999. In June 1999, John's younger son Jason began to run the lumberyard.
Today, Bondurant Lumber Wholesale & Export has grown into one of the finest lumber wholesale and reman companies in the South! The Bondurant's are quick to give God all the glory!
